About Us

Some people open bars. Steve Lewis builds brands.

Long before Breaking Brands existed, Steve had already spent more than two decades building some of Swansea's most recognised venues, including Jack Murphy's and The Adelphi. His reputation wasn't built through spreadsheets or boardrooms—it was built through experience, instinct, and an ability to spot opportunities others overlooked. By 2016, the trade press had a phrase for him: a 25-year veteran who didn't need an introduction.

Then he did something nobody else in Britain had managed. Steve brought Coyote Ugly to the UK—the first one, ever, anywhere in the country—and he put it in Cardiff. Not London. Not Manchester. Cardiff. At the time, many saw it as a risk. Steve saw an opportunity. He backed his conviction, opened the UK's first Coyote Ugly, and turned one venue into the blueprint for a nationwide franchise network that continues to grow today. Steve does not do soft launches. Where others see risk, he sees an opening night.

One bar in Cardiff became a franchise. The franchise became a group. The group became Breaking Brands: a hospitality company built around bold ideas, standout experiences, and brands with genuine personality. From iconic nightlife destinations and entertainment-led venues to food concepts and community favourites, we create places people remember, share, and return to.

Today, Breaking Brands operates 14+ venues across England, Wales, and Scotland, supported by a team of more than 400 hospitality professionals and ambitious plans to reach 30 locations by 2027. We don't just open venues. We create brands people remember.

Breaking Brands doesn't follow trends. It causes them.

And at the centre of it, with a pint of Heineken in hand, is the man who started it all.
